Ever since "the accident" which left me in hospital for over a week and then kept me out of the sun for another month I've always worn a helmet when I ride my bike. It's not the law, it's my choice. I like it that way. I don't think it should be mandatory, especially not for kids. If I'd had to wear a helmet as a child I don't think I'd like to ride bikes as much as I do now. I may never have developed a passion for cycling if I'd been forced to wear a helmet.
My name is Dan, since 2003 I've been a multi-mode commuter using a folding bike and the commuter rail to get to-and-from work. After one year I got rid of my car because cobwebs were forming in and around it. Bikes rule, even funny looking ones.
